Charity Events

At Des Winks we always like to help where possible with local charities as well as those close to our own heart. For the launch of our new Skoda showroom we donated to St Catherines Hospice. Our MD Martin has also done events for Alzheimers Research. Over the year's we have focused on raising money for Vasculitis UK of which Des passed away from in 2007.

Playing a part in the events and activities of our local communities is of the utmost importance to everyone here at Des Winks Cars. We value being able to give something back to those around us, providing sponsorship and support wherever possible. This involves us getting involved in a range of ways, undertaking fundraising and hosting events that generate valuable funds for those local organisations in need.

Over the years, we’ve enjoyed taking part in everything from charity runs to corporate football matches against others. Through the hard work of our team and the enthusiasm they’ve shown, we’re proud to have been able to raise plenty of essential funds over the years, and will continue to play an active role going forward.

In December 2023, Anne exhibited remarkable determination by participating in the "12 Dips of Christmas," where she bravely plunged into the chilly waters of the North Sea for twelve consecutive days, all in support of cancer research. Her efforts were not merely physical; they were a heartfelt tribute to her late mother-in-law, who had lovingly cared for her husband as he battled cancer. Anne's dedication yielded a significant £433.54 donation to Cancer Research.

During November 2023, our team rallied together for the Rotary Toy Appeal, an annual initiative ensuring that hundreds of local children receive presents on Christmas Day. This tradition brings us joy each year as we contribute to spreading holiday cheer.

In the same month, Des Winks FC faced off against Alpamare FC at Flamingo Land Stadium, raising over £185 for Movember. Despite the frosty conditions, the match concluded with a 2-1 victory for Alpamare FC. Keep an eye on our Facebook page for updates on future charity matches at Flamingo Land Stadium.

September 2023 marked our inaugural used car event, featuring entertainment, including garden games and an ice cream van, as well as a live radio show hosted by Paddy from This Is The Coast. The event's Wash 'n' Vac raised £150 for St Catherine’s Hospice Scarborough.

In May 2023, Matthew, along with his father, completed The Rob Burrow Leeds Marathon after rigorous training sessions post-work. Matthew's dedication was fueled by his commitment to raising funds for the Motor Neurone Disease Association, resulting in an impressive total donation of £1065.
