At Des Winks, supporting local charities and causes close to our hearts is extremely important to us. From donating to St Catherine’s Hospice at the launch of our new Škoda showroom, to our Managing Director Martin taking part in events for Alzheimer’s Research, giving back has always been part of who we are. Over the years, we have also focused on raising money for Vasculitis UK, a cause particularly close to us following the passing of Des in 2007.
We believe playing an active role in our local community is essential. Our team regularly gets involved through fundraising, sponsorship, and hosting events that help generate vital funds for local organisations. From charity runs and corporate football matches to in-house events, our staff consistently show incredible enthusiasm and commitment and we’re delighted to have been involved in the following recent charity events.
Some recent highlights include:
December 2023: Anne completed the 12 Dips of Christmas, raising £433.54 for Cancer Research in memory of her mother-in-law.
November 2023: Our team supported the Rotary Christmas Toy Appeal, helping ensure local children received presents on Christmas Day.

December 2025: We proudly supported the Rotary Christmas Toy Appeal. Our staff came together to collect and donate a large number of toys, which were distributed to young people across the Scarborough area, helping to bring smiles to children during the festive season
December 2025: We were delighted to recently win a Volkswagen competition for Best Christmas Display, which awarded us a £250 voucher to donate to a local food bank. We chose to donate this prize to The Rainbow Centre, continuing our ongoing support for the fantastic work they do in our community.
We’re incredibly grateful to our staff and customers who help make these contributions possible, and we look forward to supporting even more local causes in the future.
