New Volkswagen Touran

The Volkswagen Touran is a highly-functional MPV, offering the perfect solution to drivers looking for a versatile and environmentally-friendly people carrier.

Exterior design

Designed to make carrying up to seven people a breeze, the exterior of the Volkswagen Touran is designed to provide easy access by way of its four doors. Various features help to give this MPV a contemporary style, such as lightweight alloy wheels, front fog lights, LED tail-lights and bi-Xenon headlamps with integrated LED daytime running lights.

The vehicle's strong outer shell contains a crumple zone at the front and rear, offering additional protection in the event of an accident. Roof rails add to its sporty appearance and, while the vehicle is spacious enough to seat seven comfortably, its relatively compact external dimensions ensure it is still easy to park.

Interior design

Inside the Touran, white instrument lighting helps to add a touch of refinement to the interior, while elevated seating ensures an optimum view for driver and passengers. The seven-seat layout can be altered to provide 500 different seat combinations, resulting in almost unlimited flexibility. There are also plenty of innovative features such as height-adjustable seatbelts, folding backrests to provide even more space, numerous storage solutions and a fully-adjustable steering wheel to ensure the perfect driving position.

Performance

Five types of engine are available across the Touran range, with the most economical being Volkswagen's 1.6 litre TDI diesel engine with six-speed transmission. It is capable of delivering 61.4mpg combined and producing CO2 emissions of just 121g/km. For drivers looking for additional performance, there is the more powerful 2.0 litre TDI option, with which the Touran boasts a 0-60mph time of just under 8.8 seconds. Four-link rear suspension helps to produce a smooth and stable ride, while the Adaptive Chassis Control system allows the driver to adjust the vehicle's settings to determine the sportiness of the ride and the level of comfort.
