The all-electric SUV joins Volkswagen’s all-electric product range

The ID.4 is set to join the Volkswagen product line-up as the brand’s first ever all-electric SUV, continuing Volkswagen’s electric offensive. ID.4 premiered 23rd September 2020 .

The ID.4 is a dynamic all-rounder, built with a carbon neutral manufacturing process. Like the ID.3, it’s built on Volkswagen’s MEB framework with the advantage of competitive costs, a long driving range, improved service life and a spacious interior.

It will feature a powerful electric motor for effortless driving and acceleration, with a 0-60mph time of 8.5 seconds, a top speed of 99mph, and a range of up to approximately 323 miles, making the ID.4 a confident all-rounder.

In models with a 77kWh battery, drivers can recharge their ID.4 in around 30 minutes, and Volkswagen guarantees that the battery will still have at least 70 per cent of its original capacity after eight years, or a mileage of around 100,000 miles.

Design

ID.4’s design features several modern touches that make it truly stand out in a tightly packed segment.

Its eye-catching IQ.Light LED matrix headlights take centre stage, while the rear features 3D LED light clusters. The brake lights light up in the shape of an X, emitting dynamic patterns when the driver approaches or leaves the car.

The vehicle’s body is athletic, and when teamed with its large wheels, hints at ID.4’s strong, sporty nature.

ID.4’s class-leading features

ID.4 offers a high level of equipment and technology to electrify the segment. It features Volkswagen’s Discover Pro navigation system, We Connect Start connectivity and a lounge-style cabin with innovative display technologies. ID. Light runs as a narrow strip beneath the windscreen, and an augmented reality head-up display is always on-hand to support the driver.

Launch

ID.4 will arrive in European markets at the end of 2020 with a limited-edition launch model – the ID.4 1ST Edition. The ID.4 UK launch will be different to the recent ID.3 launch; with no pre-booking programme or First Mover club activity planned.
