New Volkswagen Jetta

Spacious and stylish, the Volkswagen Jetta makes clever use of new technology and innovative design features to produce a highly desirable saloon.

Exterior design

Available in a choice of three models, the S, SE and Sport, the Volkswagen Jetta is ideal for motorists who require extra space along with good looks. Body-coloured bumpers, door handles and wing mirrors come as standard across the three trim levels, as does the attractive black front grille with chrome surround. The galvanised body helps to prevent corrosion, and laser welding ensures additional strength and rigidity to protect those inside. The car's distinctive LED rear lights use less power than conventional bulbs yet are easier for other drivers to see, increasing safety.

Interior design

Step inside the Jetta and you're greeted by a spacious and refined interior. White instrument lighting adds an air of sophistication, as does the stylish heat-insulating tinted glass in the rear. An adjustable steering column and ergonomically sound controls help ensure the perfect driving position, while the car's interior mirror will automatically adjust to reduce glare from other vehicles' headlights at night.

New Volkswagen Jetta

There's a considerable amount of space available and split folding rear seats help increase flexibility and practicality. Air conditioning, climate control, satellite navigation and entertainment options are all available to make journeys as comfortable as possible.

A choice of four powertrains is available for the Jetta, the most economical being the 1.6 litre TDI with BlueMotion technology, capable of delivering 67.3mpg combined. For drivers more concerned with speed than efficiency, the 1.4 litre TSI can provide 158bhp and take the Golf from 0-60mph in a time of 8.3 seconds. Four-link rear suspension is present to provide a smooth and stable ride regardless of which powertrain is chosen.

Technology and Safety

A huge number of technical innovations have been added to the Jetta.

These include dusk sensors, which automatically turn on the car's headlights in response to low light levels, and rain sensors attached to the windscreen wipers. A vast array of safety features are standard across the range, and include whiplash-optimised head restraints, ABS, power-assisted steering, cruise control, front and rear crumple zones, and ISOFIX child seat fittings. The car's Auto Hold function provides assistance when pulling away on steep gradients and Electronic Stabilisation Control steps in when the car's wheels lose traction and start to slip.
