With the success of the Golf 8 launch it is time to welcome back our performance Golf range the GTI, GTD, Hybrid GTE and soon Golf R.
The Golf 8 GTI will open for order at the end of September 2020. The Golf GTI returns for its eighth generation with all its iconic features such as the Jacara cloth seats with red stitching, a sporty exterior with red accents in the front grille, and a 2.0-litre TSI engine producing 245PS which is available with both a manual and DSG gearbox.
This powerful setup means the Golf GTI accelerates from 0-62mph in 6.4 seconds for the manual and 6.2 seconds for the DSG.

The Golf 8 GTD is open for order in October 2020. The new Golf GTD packs a real punch. And more importantly, it’s an absolute knockout amongst customers. It effortlessly combines a no-nonsense design with a plethora of digital features, a powerful drive and astonishing efficiency. The best performance diesel is back in the form of the Golf GTD. It features an all-new 2.0-litre TDI engine, delivering 200PS and 400nm of torque – the same level of torque as the Golf 7.5 R.

Golf R returns as the outright Golf flagship in terms of performance and positioning, with 320PS and 420Nm on tap from its turbocharged two-litre engine. This means a top speed of 155 mph (increasing to 168 mph with the optional R-Performance pack), with a 0–62 mph sprint of just 4.7 seconds. It becomes the fastest Volkswagen on sale.
The new Golf R is a total athlete, with a new, striking design, full of expression. It features a brand-new front bumper and front spoiler, side wings and R-style air intake grilles above its exclusive side aprons. The car has been lowered by 20 millimetres, and showcases 18-inch Jerez alloy wheels.
Golf R also has an exciting optional R-Performance package for £2,000. It brings upgraded 19-inch ‘Estoril’ alloy wheels, a performance rear spoiler for added downforce, and an increased top speed of 168 mph. The pack also adds two new driver modes; Drift and Special. Drift mode is entirely focused upon driver enjoyment away from public roads.
