Introducing the new ŠKODA Kodiaq, the new large SUV for Skoda. Named after an Alaskan bear, it’s rugged and outdoorsy, yet sleek and angular – and promises to undercut its rivals by thousands of pounds.
The new model was revealed ahead of its public debut at the 2016 Paris Motor Show, and went on sale in December 2016, with deliveries beginning in 2017.
It’s the first ŠKODA to be offered with seven seats, and will initially come with a choice of two diesel engines and three petrol units. The two diesels are tried-and-trusted 2.0-litre models offering 150bhp or 190bhp, while the petrols comprise two 1.4-litres (with 125bhp or 150 bhp) and a 2.0-litre with 180bhp.
The new ŠKODA Kodiaq reimagines what is possible with an SUV. An impressive combination of powerful design, generous space, great functionality, state-of-the art assistance systems and innovative connectivity solutions means the everyday journeys will never feel quite the same again.
As ŠKODA’s first car to offer seven seats, thanks to its optional third row, the ŠKODA Kodiaq can adapt to suit your needs. Its sturdily-built exterior stresses its impressive off-road capabilities, while an unparalleled 2,065 litres of storage space (with the rear seats folded down) makes it an ideal companion for larger families.
It’s also award-winning. What Car? named the ŠKODA Kodiaq as the Best large SUV as part of the 2017 What Car? Car of the Year awards.

ŠKODA’s first ever seven-seater SUV will start from just £21,495 (OTR) when ordering starts in November, and will be available from launch in four trim levels, five engine options, two and four-wheel drive, and a choice of manual or DSG gearboxes.
The Kodiaq will be available in 24 different variants. The range comprises three familiar trims; S, SE and SE L along with a new Edition grade that celebrates the arrival of the brand’s first ever seven-seater SUV.
The range starts with the S model that despite its entry level status and price tag of just £21,495 (OTR), is brimming with standard equipment. The specification list includes LED daytime running lights, 17-inch Ratikon alloy wheels, leather multifunction steering wheel and manual air-conditioning. S models also feature Front Assist, KESSY Go, Swing touchscreen infotainment system, DAB digital radio and SmartLink for seamless smartphone connectivity. The S model is available with a 1.4 TSI 125PS engine only.
SE models are priced from £22,945 (OTR) and are available with a broad range of engine and transmission options (see table for availability). Standard specification includes 18-inch Elbrus alloy wheels, sunset glass, cruise control and rear parking sensors. Customers also benefit from a Bolero touchscreen infotainment system with eight-inch display, dual-zone climate control, rain and light sensors and auto-dimming rear view mirrors. Seven seats are available as a £1,000 option in SE trim.
Further up the range, SE L models start from £28,595 (OTR) and feature a generous specification list. Among the equipment highlights are seven seats, which now become standard, powered tailgate, 19-inch Sirius alloy wheels, and Columbus navigation system with WiFi. Drive Mode Select, Alcantara upholstery, heated front seats and full LED headlights are also included as standard on all SE L models.
Topping the range from launch is a new Edition trim grade. Created to showcase the Kodiaq’s exceptional range of equipment, Edition models start from £30,695 (OTR). Standard equipment includes 19-inch Triglav alloy wheels, seven seats, leather upholstery, metallic paint and chrome roof rails. Technology features include Lane Assist, High Beam Assist, wireless charging and phone box, and Blind spot detection.
Dynamic, visually striking version of our large SUV is now available featuring:
Created for those seeking more out of life, the new KODIAQ SportLine brings together power with style and dynamism. Premium touches in every detail will draw envious glances and comfort is built in. Designed to stand out from the crowd the 20" Vega alloys give the car a purposeful stance, whilst the choice of metallic paint lets you make the car truly yours. The Kodiaq Sportline interior understands your need to be bold. Black Alcantara bucket seats keep you centered and in control. Meanwhile the multi function sport steering wheel ensures an unrivaled driving experience connecting you to the road and to the Sportline technology.
The seven-seat Kodiaq Scout’s rugged and robust appearance is accentuated by silver-coloured design details, including distinctive underbody protection at the front and rear and 19-inch alloy wheels. Customers have a choice of two petrol and two diesel engines, both of which are linked to all-wheel drive. The Scout is recognisable from the outside by tinted rear and side windows and silver-coloured details. The radiator grille is framed by a silver-coloured trim. The roof rails, wing mirror housings, side window trims andfront and rear underbody protection are also silver in colour.
This variant also features a small badge with the model designation on the front wing and the glove compartment. The Scout has a ground clearance of 194mm, so it can negotiate larger bumps with ease. It has a ramp angle of 19.7 degrees; the approach and departure angles are an impressive 22 and 23.1 degrees respectively, because of the short overhangs. In addition, the Rough-Road package, which comes as standard, protects against damage to the underbody, engine, brake lines, fuel lines and cables.
The driver can select off-road mode simply by pressing a button. The ABS anti-lock braking system permits a certain amount of slip in order to create a wedge effect in front of the wheels. To improve traction in off-road mode, anti-slip regulation (ASR) controls the amount of slip, and the electronic differential lock (EDL) reacts more quickly than under normal driving conditions. When required, the hill-hold control and hill-descent control functions are activated – the latter maintains the car’s speed at the level at which the driver enters the slope. Standard equipment on the Scout includes driving mode select (eco, comfort, normal, sport, individual, snow), which can be used to control the engine, automatic transmission, power steering and air conditioning. Snow mode adjusts the ABS, ASR and ACC (where present) systems and the engine management to the conditions of the snow-covered or slippery road.
Standard equipment in the interior includes a multifunction steering wheel, LED ambient lighting in 10 colours, a modular infotainment matrix (MIB) system with eight speakers, Alcantara-covered seats with the Kodiaq logo, steel pedals, textile floor mats and the Kodiaq logo on the front door sills.
The Kodiaq promises truly unprecedented levels of luxury in a ŠKODA, while also offering more storage space than its rivals thanks to a stretched wheelbase. It’ll be capable on rough terrain too, thanks to the combination of optional four-wheel drive and impressive ground clearance.
It’s also the cleverest ŠKODA ever, with innovative new technologies including wireless charging for smartphones and an in-car communications package. This relays conversation from the front row of seats to those at the back using microphones and speakers – no more shouting on long journeys!
It perfectly embodies the brand tagline ‘Simply Clever’, doing small things to make your life easier. There’s even a small anti-ding device that pops out of each door when it’s open, to prevent damaging your car or the next car. It’ll also be compatible with Apple CarPlay, Android Auto and MirrorLink so you can hook up your smartphone.
