Volkswagen has unveiled its latest all-electric model: the ID.7 Tourer. It is a stylish estate version of the flagship ID.7 launched last year, and one of the world’s first electric estate cars in the upper mid-sized class.

The first photos of the ID.7 Tourer reveal a sleek estate that combines bags of space with incredible efficiency; the car has a drag coefficient of just 0.24 – almost identical to the ID.7 fastback. The ID.7 Tourer has a forecast range of 378 miles with the 77kWh battery in the Pro Match version, which can be charged at up to 175kW. The Pro S model arriving in a few months will have a larger 86kWh battery with a projected range of around 425 miles and charging at up to 200kW, plus there will be a sporty GTX all-wheel drive model with the 77kWh battery.

The ID.7 Tourer differs significantly from the fastback at the rear. Its design is characterised by a long roof line and, in terms of style, there is a blend of the classic Passat Estate and the dynamic Arteon Shooting Brake.

Standard exterior features include front and rear LED light clusters, diamond-cut 19-inch alloy wheels and roof rails. Another additional exterior feature of the ID.7 Tourer is the illuminated Volkswagen logo at both the front and the rear.

With five people on board, the ID.7 Tourer can accommodate up to 605 litres of luggage. This figure leaps to 1,714 litres when measured up to the roof and with the rear seats folded down - in this case, the load area is almost two metres long.

Drivers and passengers can look forward to the same high levels of comfort as seen already with the ID.7. Premium materials, intelligent automatic air conditioning with smart air vents, and heated front seats with pressure point massage combine to offer a luxurious experience. Volkswagen’s new Wellness app is also now on board: this allows various vehicle functions to be adjusted via preconfigured programmes to enhance wellbeing during journeys or breaks.

The interior and equipment also include keyless locking and starting, luggage partition net, 10-colour ambient lighting, heated multi-function steering wheel, Discover Pro Max navigation system, an enhanced augmented-reality head-up display and a rear-view camera.

An optional panoramic sunroof with smart glass is also available for the ID.7 Tourer. The roof can be made opaque or transparent electronically by means of a polymer-dispersed liquid crystal (PDLC) layer that is integrated in the glass.

The infotainment system is the same as that seen already in the ID.7, complete with a high-definition 15-inch screen and the latest Volkswagen operating system, which has received positive reviews in the media.

The new IDA voice assistant is operated using natural language. This enables control of many vehicle functions and it can answer specific questions on all conceivable subjects by accessing online databases and, in the future, ChatGPT.
