At Des Winks in Yorkshire, we offer fixed priced servicing for all Volkswagen makes and models aged between 3 and 15 years old. This service is available for vehicles with engines up to and including a 2.0-litre unit, following a time-and-distance fixed-service regime. All our services are charged at Volkswagen standard labour times and include any parts, oil, labour and VAT, and are valid until December 31, 2016.
Our fixed-price services include major and minor services, MOTs and many more, all carried out by Volkswagen-approved engineers. Read the breakdown of Volkswagen fixed-priced servicing options below.
A minor service can help to prevent any small or existing problems from becoming big problems. The Volkswagen-recommended minor service interval is every 12 months or 10,000 miles. This service includes:
A major service guarantees that your car will run smoother than before, and is recommended every 24 months or 20,000 miles. This service includes:
As a premium Volkswagen dealer, we offer the care and expertise of a Volkswagen-authorised repairer for the standard MOT test fee. If we discover that your car needs any further work to pass the test, we will always check with you before we take care of it.
The cambelt in your Volkswagen drives major parts of the engine to keep everything working in harmony. Changing it prevents snaps, cracks and tears which, in turn, minimises the risk of major engine damage. At Des Winks, we can check it and change it for you.
The water pump in your Volkswagen is driven by the cambelt, circulating fluids to cool your engine. If the water pump were to seize it could cause the cambelt to stop suddenly, which may damage your engine. For this reason, we also offer to replace the water pump if and when the cambelt needs replacing. Completing both replacements at the same time provides total reassurance that your engine will be running in sync.
Brake and disc pads can easily become worn or corroded, so it is critical they are checked regularly for your safety and peace of mind. Worn brake pads can affect your car’s stopping distance. At Des Winks, we will check your brake pads for you and replace them if necessary.
Usually, if your brake pads have suffered from wear or corrosion, it is likely that your brake discs may have done so, too. We can check both your brake pads and brake discs in the service and replace them if required. This service gives you the ultimate assurance in your vehicle’s braking safety and is cost-effective, too.
Over time, moisture develops in your brake fluid due to high operating temperatures. If too much moisture builds up, it can boil while you are braking, seriously affecting braking performance and in some cases, causing the brakes to fail. At Des Winks, our technicians will check the level of moisture and look for any leaks. If required, we will drain the system and fill it with new brake fluid.
DSG transmission oil requires regular changing to avoid becoming old or dirty. Dirty oil can overheat the gearbox or cause the clutch to burn out, leading to poor gear selection, loss of power or transmission failure. To prevent this from happening, we will check your gearbox for leaks, drain the oil, replace the filter and fill it with quality Volkswagen DSG oil.
In your four-wheel drive Volkswagen, the multi-plate clutch wears out the oil over time, so it needs to be replaced every 40,000 miles to maintain efficiency. To keep your system in peak operational condition, we remove the oil entirely from the system and replace it with fresh oil of the correct grade to the correct level.
As an authorised Volkswagen retailer with over 20 years’ experience, you can be sure that Des Winks will perform any services on your car with great care.
